Penguin Random House – Number One in the World of Book Publishing

The world's largest trade book publishing group Random House is comprised of nearly 250 editorially independent imprints. The publishing group is represented in 15 countries with historic names such as Doubleday and Alfred A. Knopf (U.S.), Ebury and Transworld (U.K.), Plaza & Janés (Spain), Sudamericana (Argentina). Every year Random House publishes about 15,000 new titles and sells more than 700 million books, audiobooks and e-books worldwide.

The printing and publishing company Gruner + Jahr has approximately 500 media activities, magazines and digital offerings in over 30 countries. Its most important company outside Germany is the second-largest magazine publisher in France, Prisma Média. Gruner + Jahr also publishes, distributes and/or sells magazines and other media offerings in China, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Spain, in the Adriatic region and Mexico with magazines, sales or marketing activities.

As a global provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) services, Arvato supports business/B2B clients across a wide range of industries in maintaining successful customer relations by designing and delivering customized/bespoke solutions in nearly 40 countries. Its wide range of services includes data management, customer services, customer relations services, supply chain management, digital distribution, financial services, professional and customized IT services, and all services related to the creation and distribution of printed materials and digital storage media.

Be Printers – A Strong Provider of Print and Communications Services

The international printing group Be Printers covers the entire technical spectrum of the printing industry with gravure, web and sheet-fed offset printing as well as digital printing. Be Printers has operations in the core markets of Europe (Prinovis Germany and Britain) and the Americas (the U.S. and Colombia). Plants at 18 production sites produce magazines, catalogs, brochures, books, and calendars for their customers.

Corporate Investments

Bertelsmann’s remaining operational activities are summed up in the Corporate Investments department. They include the music rights company BMG and activities in the education sector. The Group’s digital media funds Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI) and Bertelsmann Asia Investments (BAI) are also assigned to Corporate Investments.
